New Safety Regulations for Cranes in NYC
Just a few days after the recent crane collapse in New York City, Mayor de Blasio put into place new rules. The rules require crawler cranes to stop operating if there is a forecast for wind speeds of 20 MPH or higher.
Considering the accuracy of forecasts, this could greatly impact the amount of work crane operators will get done before having to shut down. Other new regulations include an increase in the required amount of flagmen.
