The NY Department of Buildings sets insurance requirements for licenses and construction permits in New York City.
Most licenses, including operators and master riggers only require a $1 million general liability policy. However, depending on the scope of the job the DOB may require higher limits. New construction and major alterations require general liability limits of up to $25 million. Any job involving a tower crane requires an $80 million GL limit.
