Recently a NJ man recently pleaded guilty to providing a false insurance certificate to a general contractor for work during Superstorm Sandy. Then man was sentenced to a year in jail.
Remember to not only request certificates from your subcontractors, but also review them as well. Some of these fakes are easy to spot but if you’re not sure, ask your broker to take a look. A loss caused by an uninsured sub could cost your business millions.
